The Megan and Rayan’s wedding is an ideal occasion to propose a new photography concept

The Megan and Rayan’s wedding in Santa Maria di Leuca, in Puglia, is an ideal occasion to give out a different perception of reality from the subjects to the space around.

Puglia is a magnificent wedding destination for many Italian and foreign couples who like the intimate and passionate environment of this land where nature, history, and culture come together in perfect harmony.

Megan is English while Rayan comes from Jamaica, however the couple lives together in England. They said “I do” in the famous Sanctuary of “De Finibus Terrea” in Santa Maria di Leuca, well known for being the most south-eastern point of Italy and the place where the Ionian Sea meets the Adriatic Sea.

Bride and Groom: Megan & Rayan
Puglia Wedding ceremony location: Santuario “De Finibus Terrea” a Santa Maria di Leuca, provincia di Lecce
Puglia Wedding reception venue: Palazzo Daniele a Gagliano del Capo, provincia di Lecce

Palazzo Daniele in Gagliano del Capo was chosen by the couple to host their wedding celebration with family and friends.

This charming venue is a typical villa in the countryside of Salento, built in 1861 by local architect Domenico Malinconico and renovated by Francesco Petrucci and transformed into an art house.

The party was really joyful, all the guests danced and enjoyed themselves by celebrating the wedding, listening to reggae music also.

The Megan and Rayan’s wedding is an ideal occasion to revolutionize the point of view and propose a new photography concept. The aim was to give out a different perception of reality from the subjects to the space around.

Therefore, we gave free rein to our curiosity and imagination. We tried to evoke deep emotions by: mixing strong contrast between highlights and shadows; using saturated colours and sometimes lens flare; matching sharp images with motion effect.

The blur effect used on some of these photos makes it difficult to see clearly the details so that the attention is focused on the moment. For example, the photo of the bride and the groom in which they are closely embracing near the sea. It’s impossible to have a look of the details, however the emotion among the newlyweds is straightforward.

In other pictures, when blur effect was combined with a sharp detail, the usual depth of field was transformed, giving focus to a particular object while blurring all the area. An example is the photo in front of the church and another is the photo of the gateway to the hall or the photo of the bride and the groom going outside the church.

While, in most pictures, the subjects are sharp and some details are out of focus depending on motion effect. A clear example of this are the two photos of the bride and the groom drinking the wine and the whisky.

The motion was at the centre of the creative research.

Special thank you to Luigi Cordella who assisted in shooting the wedding and accomplished the creative research.
